It would be terrific to come across a magic pill that ends migraine headaches the moment they hit. But unless you marry a witch or find a genie on a beach somewhere, it ain’t going to happy any time soon. For the time being, the best approach to treating migraines is with prevention. Supplements are definitely the generals leading the way on this battlefield. Okay, we all know generals don’t lead the way on the battlefield anymore, but the metaphor is still apt.

What kinds of preventative maintenance can you use to cut down on your acne? Is it possible to do something about acne outbreaks on your own?

One of the first and most important measures to help prevent acne is to have a healthy lifestyle. Eat three good meals a day, get the proper rest at night, and drink a minimum of eight glasses of water a day. Relax; don’t let stress control you even if you do have a frantic and unpredictable lifestyle. NEVER, EVER, pick or squeeze a pimple or blackhead. When you do the skin always looks redder, feels bumpier, and draws more attention to the pimple you want to hide. The redness will go away faster if you just leave the bumps alone, no matter how hard that may be!

Do you ever wonder if popping a pimple will cause you any pain long term? What about if there is a procedure out there that maybe you should follow? There are rules and you should follow or you could end up with pain in the affected area followed possibly by an eternal acne scar. Everywhere you look you will find conflicting information about popping pimples. Some believe that pimple popping is acceptable, while others say never touch a pimple. Unfortunately, everyone has had a huge pimple just begging to be popped and if you must, then at least try to do it correctly. If not done correctly it can leave you with more than a pimple, in fact it can make the condition a whole lot worse.

Who wants to go back to the times of high school dances and the thought of how horrible it would be to have a pimple pop up on that special night? No woman, teenage or adult, wants to deal with acne breakouts. Unfortunately a lot of women deal with acne resurfacing in their adult years and it can cause anxiety. Dealing with the problem can be even worse when social events such as job interviews and weddings come along. What is the reason for these late onsets of acne? Persistent adult acne is a condition that is common for many women suffered from acne as an adolescent or that had a late development of acne as an adult. No matter what the reason, the emotional and physical stress caused by acne can be detrimental to a woman.

In this day of diet pills, and other pills or various other instant relief of other medical problems, is popping a pill to prevent pimples something you should try?

It’s a common misconception only teenagers have acne. In truth, all ages can get pimples and suffer from them at any time of their life. In fact, increasingly, women are getting acne well into their adult years. Some women have found it helpful to take a low dosage of birth control pills and it helps their acne clear up. The birth control pill is hormone manipulation. One birth control pill that has proven effective is Ortho Tri-Cyclen. It successfully reduces the male hormones, androgens, and regulates the female hormones so hormonal imbalances are not as severe. Hormones can be a major cause of acne breakouts. Some women are genetically prone to more drastic hormone mood swings because of oil glands that are more sensitive to hormones and higher levels of androgen.

What are those pesky white spots that appear on our faces? They are called whiteheads. These whiteheads are a form of acne that is made up of a mixture of oils, sebum and dead skin cell fragments, which result in a hard firm plug inside of the hair follicle. Sebum is the secretion from the oil glands that consists of fat, keratin, and cellular material. Whiteheads become secluded from the surface of the skin due to dead skin cells plugging the opening of the hair follicle. The white color is caused by the ingredients of the hair follicle not being exposed to oxygen in the air. Whiteheads form a light or yellowish white lump; these lumps are called milia, milium, and singular. Bacteria being added to the mixture inside of a whitehead plug it will probably result in an acne cyst. Preventing cystic acne that begins with a whitehead or whiteheads is very important because acne can cause scars and can be very painful. You will find a lot of over the counter products to help eliminate and prevent whiteheads. However, following a simple face cleansing regime will be more than sufficient in the prevention whiteheads and will help destroy existing whiteheads as well.
